The Datacenter is located in Bettembourg at the intersection of the NORTH-SOUTH and EAST-WEST corridors. It satisfies the most advanced technological requirements and the strictest Green IT standards. It is TIER 4 category. Security is ubiquitous in the Datacenter. All electrical equipment is located outside IT rooms. The infrastructure is designed based on the principle of redundancy and can be fitted with “liquid cooled” racks on request. The total electrical capacity is 6.3MVA, the ceiling height is 4.80 meters and floors resist 1 500kg per m². The generators have an endurance of 48h and the site is continuously monitored 24h/7d/365d per year.

The datacenter is designed based on a capacity of 1150 Watts per square meter. Liquid cooled racks can support a power of 10 kVA per rack. All technical equipment is located outside IT rooms (except for electrical cabinets that are located in customer rooms for security reasons). This also enables technical maintenance to be carried out without entering client rooms (better security).
We offer to help each customer with the design and optimisation of his room and warm and cold corridors, to optimise the cooling infrastructure. Liquid cooled racks may be installed in IT rooms on request.
The datacenter is designed based on the principle of complete redundancy. There is no “single point of failure” for all the equipment in the cooling, electrical power supply and electrical generators part, and in the communication, electronic and electrical parts. By default, customers are supplied in 2(N+1) for the electrical part. Each rack may be connected by two electricity inputs. Static switches may be used for racks and systems not fitted with double connectors to guarantee complete redundancy.

Safety

Fire detection

Rooms are fitted with a Nitrogen extinguisher as standard equipment. All detection points are directly connected to the general monitoring control unit that supervises each space and each sensor individually, and can take the necessary actions in case of fire.

Electricity power supply

The datacenter is connected to Luxembourg electricity suppliers through two special purpose entry paths.
It is also equipped with twenty 500 kWatt static UPSs. The capacity of the batteries is sufficient for the centre to continue operating for 10 minutes at a full load of 3 megawatts. If a major power failure occurs, we have 8 special purpose generators (1550 kVA each) that can generate the current necessary for the centre to operate correctly. There are four 20 000 litre fuel oil tanks to provide 2 days autonomy.

Cooling units

Cooling units are installed based on the 2N principle. Two completely separate production lines (with no single point of failure) guarantee and generate a temperature of 10°C. Each cooling unit is connected to its electricity generation line to guarantee complete production even if one of its electricity generation lines is interrupted.

Access security

The datacenter has its own security team based on 24*7*365. A strict access procedure has been set up. Digital and volumetric cameras are installed outside the centre and in all common spaces (corridors, Telco rooms, etc.). All images are compressed and saved at a rate of 2 images per second. Standard equipment installed for room access control includes a card reader or digital code. We can set up a biometry system if specifically requested. A monthly report is provided listing accesses by person, by day, by month or by week.

Water and fire detection

A smoke suction system is installed in all rooms on the site. In parallel, an optical detection system is installed under the floor to initiate extinguishing systems.
Water detectors are placed in all false floors on the site.

Central control system

A control system is provided inside the centre. All equipment is monitored and managed from this location. Each equipment status change, temperature change or alarm is supervised and monitored from this location. All actions are recorded and traced on a 24*7*365 basis. However, if a problem occurs in the supervision centre, it is still possible to take manual action on all equipment. A standard centre has 30 000 measurement points and 2000 security check points. The monitoring system is developed as an open system and therefore customers can use it to connect to their proprietary system.
